I offer individualized supportive therapy with the goal of providing a space that feels safe and supportive so you can share, heal, and grow.
Being a systems thinker, I use a multi-modal approach to treatment, working with you to chose which approaches are most effective and come up with a treatment plan that fits you and your goals. My work is collaborative, supportive and individualized.
I am there for you every step of your journey. I will work with you to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life.
I offer specialized counseling services to individuals, couples and families, both in person and by teletherapy.

INDIVIDUALS
Whether you are wanting to work through life stressors, process past trauma, discuss relationship stress or find better coping strategies I am here to support your goals and help you find relief from your stress. The modalities I most often work in include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, dialectal behavior therapy (DBT), experiential therapy, narrative therapy and emotionally focused therapy. Using these theories, I can best develop person-centered approaches that fit your needs.
I specialize in couples work and support all couples, including LGBTQ+ and nuerodivergent couples. Offering a safe place where all can access the support they are seeking is a core value for me. I am trained in Prepare and Enrich, Gottman, Attachment based-Emotionally Focused Therapy. I am passionate about working with couples and use collaborative problem solving to aid in better communication, more intimacy and work towards a more loving relationship.
I am skilled in family therapy and I do offer mediation services. Family dynamics can be overwhelming and I work hard to be sure every family member feels supported and heard while working towards the goal of better communication and problem solving.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
• Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
• Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises

Melissa Warren MS, LMFT
I received my Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Edgewood College and my undergraduate degree in Psychology from UW-Stevens Point. I started Calm Water Counseling in July of 2019 in the hopes of creating a business that reflected my values. I am passionate about the importance of mental health both in my own life and in the services I provide. As someone who has faced my own mental health struggles, I know firsthand how crucial it is to receive mental health support that is targeted and timely. My life experiences and passion to help others drove me to start a business. Working as a social worker in the disability field before going to graduate school also prompted me to find a new way to support people that seemed overwhelmed and under supported. As a family first business, I am considerate of my client’s life responsibilities and offer flexibility. I am passionate about helping people live with less stress and have better coping strategies, communication skills and quality of life.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and dog at home relaxing, reading, being creative and traveling.
